Alice's Current Style and Recent Outfits

categories: ,

Hello! My name is Alice.
Eri and Ruka have given me the opportunity to share my love for Larme here on Petite Dollies!
This first post will be a little about my own personal style, my inspirations and how I came to discover the Larme fashion!

 Style History:

When I was younger, my brothers brought me up with a lot of rock and heavy music and therefore, my outfits were heavily influenced by the music I listened to. You know, the old skinny jeans and band t-shirt phase!

At around 13-14 years of age, I first discovered Japanese music and the fashion sub-culture that came along with it. This began my transformation into a wearer of pink, frills, bows - definitely not something I would have pictured myself in previously. Even my mother was taken by surprise with the sudden change!

Over the years, I'd been struggling between these two polar opposites. For many years I pushed away the darker side of myself and I began experimenting with different J-fashion styles; I'd tried lolita fashion but found it too over the top to wear all the time, I tried gyaru but I didn't really fit the 'sexy' image. I moved onto Liz Lisa for a while and then I realised that this overly girly style didn't really suit me either and I felt like I was lying to myself.

It wasn't until I discovered LARME, that I found a way to merge these two sides of myself. I love that the magazine combines fun and girly fashion with a dark, melancholic undertone.

My Current Style:

Larme has definitely helped me come to accept both the
bright and darker sides of myself. I would say my current style tries to incorporate feminine and girly elements, but is also combined with darker and grungy elements to create the perfect balance. Pheromone Fetish and Urban Goth are definitely my favourite styles.

For me, fashion has become more than a hobby. It has been a long journey of self-acceptance and a creative outlet of self-expression.

My Inspirations:

Most of my inspiration comes from Larme magazine, the models and the associated fashion brands. I also take a lot of inspiration from music, films and my friends!

Not only in regards to fashion, but as a general rule of life, I try not to limit myself as I believe that anything and everything is potential inspiration!
